After earning a Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University, Dr. Thompson attended DePaul University in Chicago. He earned his Masters and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at DePaul with a specialty in Child Clinical Psychology, and completed his pre-doctoral internship at The Psychiatric and Psychosomatic Institute at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago. His doctoral dissertation involved the evaluation of a school-based preventive intervention program for street gang membership on Chicago’s north side. Dr. Thompson has directed clinical programming in residential treatment centers in Louisiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin for both children and adolescents, and has maintained an active private practice consisting of clinical, consulting, and forensic activities. Currently licensed in Wisconsin, Illinois, South Carolina, New Mexico, and Michigan, Dr. Thompson specializes in working with children and teens with a variety of disruptive or problematic behaviors. He is a staff member at Memorial Hospital of Burlington, Lakeland Medical Center, and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, and also provides consultation and other services to a number of area social service agencies. Dr. Thompson is board certified in forensic psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). Dr. Thompson frequently provides evaluation and expert witness services in criminal, civil, and delinquency cases in many area courts.
