Emily Peissig, Psy.D., obtained a master’s degree in clinical psychology from the Wisconsin School of Professional Psychology (WSPP) in 2017. She was then forensically trained in both treatment and assessment at her pre-doctoral internship at the state-operated Forensic Services, in St. Peter, MN. Dr. Peissig’s doctorate degree in clinical psychology from WSPP was conferred in August of 2020 and she continued on, completing a formal forensic fellowship at the Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Center (SRSTC) and Mendota Mental Health Institute (MMHI). Dr. Peissig was licensed as a psychologist in Wisconsin in September 2021. She also holds an Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (IPIT) through PSYPACT which allows her to provide telehealth services in states who are PSYPACT members. Dr. Peissig is currently employed at the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) and the Wisconsin Department of Corrections (DOC). In her capacities through DHS, she provides forensic assessments including those for competency to stand trial, violence risk, and psychosexual evaluations. She also conducts both neuropsychological and psychological diagnostic assessments for treatment purposes. While at the DOC, Dr. Peissig specializes in individual and group treatment for women who are serving long-term sentences in the Wisconsin prison system. Dr. Peissig’s interest areas include general forensic evaluations, consultation, and individual therapy for grief, trauma, and women’s issues.
